Gates Mills
Gates Mills is a village in Cuyahoga County, Ohio, and is a suburb of Cleveland. Gates Mills is located in Cuyahoga County and borders the communities of Hunting Valley, Willoughby Hills, Willoughby. Gates Mills had a population of 2,245 as of 2014. A suburb of Cleveland and originally part of Mayfield Township, Gates Mills is a highly desirable place to live in Northeast Ohio.
With its sun-filtered streets, hiking trails and horse-fenced properties, Gates Mills offers its residents tranquil and spacious living. Gates Mills is a quiet, picturesque community with beautiful scenery, since most of the town is on or very close to the Chagrin River. Many equestrians are drawn to Gates Mills because of the Chagrin Valley Hunt Club, as well as easy access to stables, riding areas and Metroparks locations with riding trails. A peaceful community, Gates Mills does not have much industry or business within its boundaries.

Homes in Gates Mills that are clustered in the center of town have a historic charm. Set amongst flourishing wooded areas and natural landscaping, all of these homes are white with black shutters. Neighborhoods outside the center of town offer diverse types of homes, some old and some new, mostly traditional/colonial, although there is an occasional modern style home. There tend to be larger houses outside the center of town because most Gates Mills lots are at least five acres.
Gates Mills offers its residents access to strong public and private schools in neighboring communities. Residents of Gates Mills belong to the Mayfield School District.
Downtown Cleveland is a 20-30-minute drive, depending on traffic. Upscale retail, unique shops, trendy restaurants and major retail centers are located in communities adjacent to Gates Mills.
History of Gates Mills
Gates Mills was founded in 1826, incorporated in 1920, is 8.8 square miles and offers three churches, three schools and a post office.
